We have recently received accreditation in both Level 1 and Level 2 Rights Respecting Schools Award. The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of school’s planning, policies, practice and ethos. A rights-respecting school not only teaches about children’s rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between teachers / adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils.
At North Ridge everyone learns to use the language of rights, respect and responsibility. All staff at school model the language of Rights and Responsibilities. At North Ridge, we recognise that being a Rights Respecting school is a continual journey, continually changing and adapting to the individual needs of the pupils and staff. We have used learning and understanding about Rights as part of our behaviour management strategies making strong links between pupils values, rights, choices and responsibilities.
Please have a look at our nurture group in action. This is a project that is aimed at developing various characteristics and awareness within students via the use of outdoor activities.
